what i like about Get Smart, Again! is that it's a reunion movie done right... not only do we have Max, 99, Larrabee, Hymie, Agent 13, Siegfried, and Shtarker all returning, played by the original actors, but we have other, lesser-known actors returning who were on the old show, too (Harold Gould, Kenneth Mars, and Roger Price had appeared in an episode apiece of the 60s series, and here have bigger roles), and even two of Don Adams' daughters - Stacey and Cecily - get minor roles...
besides the casting, the whole thing is very much written and played as if it really belongs with the old series (which is so refreshing after The Nude Bomb)... Hottentot really sounds like a character you would have expected to see on the old show (i could swear that we did, but i can't find an episode with him anywhere), and the homages to the show were sometimes very subtle and didn't detract from your enjoyment at all...
it's hard to imagine them making a truly lovable reunion movie without Ed Platt, but i think they've done it perfectly... my one and only complaint about this movie is that (being made-for-TV) the production value was so poor... if they'd put enough money into it to make it look and sound as clean as the episodes of the original series, that's about the only way i can see that they could have improved upon it!

Ive watched the first half hour of it this arvo...and I've been pleased by the result so far.
Don Adams isnt exactly the same, in the scene where hes talking with the commander on the helipad he looks extremely old but the rounding up of Hymie, larabee and Agent 13 were all enjoyable....
so far: good fun!

Having watched the rest....I agree control, the production values are very poor, which makes it seem like a bad cop show rather than a spy tale....but its still good fun.

yeah, i love that despite the poor production values, it's still a good story, and it's very much like the original series... was much better than The Nude Bomb, that's for sure!

Its very much like then original series indeed by way of storyline, but the fact they're in crummy flats and caravan parks makes it lose some lustre...but still great fun as you say CONTROL.

i'm getting WAY off topic, here, but:
"flats and caravan parks" ;D
just struck me as funny because here in the States it'd be "apartments and trailer parks"... i remember when i went to Ireland, though, they said those like you do...
the first time i read your post, when i got to "crummy flats", i thought you were talking about their shoes, and i was thinking, "Hey, they didn't wear flats, did they?!" ;D
i had a late night last night, so don't mind me!
