i've been rewatching the 1995 series because i'm compiling some info i intend to share in that section of the forum, but as i was watching the first episode, i noticed some strong similarities between that episode and this new movie... here's what i'm talking about... in the first episode of the 1995 series: - Zach Smart works in research before being promoted to Agent status
- Agent 66 does not want Zach as a partner because she feels his inexperience will be a hinderance
- Agent 66 uses her sexuality as a weapon to distract KAOS agents, even kissing one
- Zach has a gadget 66 doesn't have, but he has difficulty using it correctly despite cognitively knowing how it works
- Zach is discovered by KAOS while sneaking around in air ducts
- Zach suspects 66 of being a double agent, and the Chief (Max) is quick to jump to conclusions, even though she turns out to be innocent
- at one point, 66 thinks Zach is dead, but Max points out that the thing that is thought to have caused his death has "Missed it by that much"
don't these all sound like things that were borrowed and reworked for the new movie?? or have i just lost my mind?? if the 1995 show had been more popular, i might not be so surprised at some of these, but to have so many similarities to a single episode of a show that only lasted 7 weeks just seems so strange to me!

Hmm that is interesting. I don't see why the writers would bother watching the 1995 version for inspiration for writing the movie....maybe that's where the movie went wrong.

may be... the other way of looking at it is that it's a huge list of coincidences, and it illustrates the difficulties post-original writers have faced when trying to come up with something "fresh" that still pays homage to the original series...
