I would love to get the old Get Smart TV show on DVD and I was seriously considering buying the timelife collection whenever I felt I'd be financially able to. It's just that I had once read that there were many problems with the Time Life DVDs. Apparently they butchered some of the episodes by editing them differently or something. I tried finding the article/review before posting this but I had no luck. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that may have so many faults and I needed some help from the biggest of Get Smart fans. Can anyone offer an opinion? Is what I read true? If so is it really that bad? Thanks.

i've had the set for a good while now, and i haven't noticed any significant problems... in "Rub-a-dub-dub Three Spies in a Sub" (Season 2), there's a segment that lasts a minute or so where the audio sounds like it's in a tube... i think there was another episode that had a similar problem, but i forget now which episode or even which season... beyond that, there haven't been any problems i've noticed... i did notice once that not every episode's running time is exactly the same, but i don't know if that's because some of the episodes were slightly shorter, or if it was actually edited... if the episodes have been edited, i'd be interested to see a list of what is missing, but whatever the case, it at least has not detracted from my own enjoyment... i watch episodes fairly often (as you can tell from the "Last GS watched" thread), and i have never been unhappy with what i've watched, if that's anything to go by... and beyond the episodes themselves, the set is LOADED with extras i think make it a MUST BUY... the set won a lot of awards when it was first released... i know that some people are not fans of Time Life, and have had their share of problems ordering from them... but the set is now available from other retailers instead of exclusively from Time Life, so that shouldn't be an issue anymore, if anyone's wary... (i ordered from TimeLife and had no problems whatsoever) EDIT: according to WouldYouBelieve.com, all the episodes in the set are uncut...

Fair enough! Coming from the chief I'd say I can't go wrong! Now I'll just have to twiddle my thumbs until the funds come along. It was probably just some angry customer who wanted TimeLife to lose customers anyway. Can't blame me for taking the precautions on such an expensive buy though.
