tonight i was watching "99 Loses CONTROL" from Season 3 of the original series, and it dawned on me that i had seen some of this somewhere else...
in the 2nd episode of GS95, entitle "Casino Evil", KAOS is using the casino to cheat billionaires out of their companies and then killing them... in "99 Loses CONTROL", the KAOS plot is really a sub-plot to the episode, but it's essentially the same thing - Victor Royale is a KAOS agent using his casino to cheat people out of their companies and then killing them!
couldn't believe it!
then i got to thinking - wondering if there are more plot points that GS95 borrowed from the original... without going back and re-watching things, there are a few that i can think of (though this first one was probably the strongest connection)...
in GS95 ep 3, "Goodbye Ms. Chip", KAOS uses mind-control to try to get 66 to assassinate somebody... in the original series, KAOS hypnotized Max and tried to get him to kill the cheif!
in GS95 ep 5, "Passenger 99", our agents are trying to discover the KAOS assassin on an airplane... early in Season 3 of the original series, i believe, there's an episode where Max is trying to discover the KAOS agents on a plane...
in GS95 ep 7, "Liver Let Die", Zach and 66 pose as doctors to figure out why KAOS is buying up hospitals... in the original series, there is a KAOS-run hospital or clinic or something where pregnant 99 accidentally goes, and in another episode, Max poses as a doctor to get close to a KAOS killer...
a couple of those are kinda tenuous, but it's still interesting... guess it just goes to show that there's not an endless supply of fresh story ideas out there... as if we didn't already know that based on how many remakes and rehashings Hollywood and TV churn out every year!
