were there any things about the new movie that you didn't like, or that you wish they had done differently? one of the big disappointments for me was Terence Stamp's Siegfried... i wouldn't have minded if he played another character - there were other villains on the TV show - but if they're gonna insist on having Siegfried, and if for whatever reason Bernie Kopell was unwilling/unable to play the role, i understand having someone else step in and do it... but my problem with Stamp is that although he was a decent enough villain, he wasn't Siegfried... Siegfried was a bumbler almost as bad as Max on the show, and he had an overblown, comical accent and a rigid way of moving... Stamp's character had none of the above... he was a fine enough villain, but he just wasn't Siegfried... know what i mean? my only other real complaint is with some mising catchphrases i was sorta expecting that would have worked great in a couple scenes, but i can understand that they didn't want to totally overdo the catchphrases, either, and i wouldn't be surprised if they're planning to work more of those into the sequel, if they do one... it would have been nice if Hymie either wasn't mentioned at all or had a little more screen time, but oh well... again, maybe he'll be featured more in the sequel, if there is one, though TBH, Hymie was never my favorite character anyway... i liked him more than Larabee, at least, though...

not something i "didn't like" so much as something i just missed, but... i wish Max had been clumsier.. Don Adams used to play it almost like Inspector Clouseau, running into the wall instead of the door occasionally, putting his hand in his food when trying to lean on the table, falling in the floor when trying to lean on a wall or a piece of furniture or something... it wasn't constant, but just every now and then, he'd get on a roll like that, and he couldn't stop! that's one aspect of Max that was really missing in Carell's portrayal...

I definitely agree about Siegfried. He bared no similarities to the original and therefore should not have been called Siegfried.
I also agree on Max not being clumsy enough, he seemed nastier or something.
I also didn't like the role 99 played in the first half of the movie where she constantly berates Max. It just wasn't 99.
Larabee was funny and I enjoyed the stapler-to-the-head gag but once again it was nothing like the innocent yet stupid Larabee from the series.
Hymie also came across nasty. A complete opposite to the series.
I guess my main issues just involve characters using the names of some of the originals but not resembling their personalities at all. However I do think Starker and The Chief were played very true to the original and therefore very funny.

i wonder if some of the characters may feel more like their 60s counterparts by the time a sequel comes around... 99 should easily make the transition, and i could almost envision the change in Larrabee and Hymie, as well...

I can motion with your criticisms Chief, however I must say that I mostly found the recharacterizations enjoyable - though I do agree that calling Stamp's character Siegfried gave unneccessary parallels when he couldve been a fine enough villain on his own.

I felt like 99 became like the real 99 towards the end of the movie when Max and 99 go back to Control. I hope in the sequel she becomes even more like original 99. I hope Larabee is changed in the second movie. I didn't like the casting choice for him because the actor who payed him usually plays over the top obnoxious characters. He didn't fit the profile for Larabee at all. I also didn't like when they introduced Hymie being controlled by a remote. I'm hoping for a drastic change in character profiles in the second movie.
