I know we're all here to talk Get Smart, terrific TV show that it is , but surely we're still fans of other TV shows? To Be honest im more a fan of another 60's show - Hogan's Heroes!, but Get Smart is another joy that i love to watch.

i've always preferred classic shows over today's shows... it's rare for me to find anything on today that i really care for, so i tend to stockpile classics on DVD... i have the first season of Gomer Pyle, USMC on DVD, as well as the first season of Happy Days, the first season of Knight Rider, the first four seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard, all of Mayberry RFD (taped from the TV), some random early episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies (personally always favorited the B&W episodes), and even some older things like Milton Berle, Abbot & Costello (on The Colgate Comedy Hour), Roy Rogers, etc... of couse, i have all 5 seasons of the original run of Get Smart, and i love that!
but the real crown of my collection (for me) is The Andy Griffith Show, of which i have all 8 seasons on DVD... to me, it just doesn't get any better than that!
what i love about classic TV is first of all that it was mostly clean, and secondly that there was usually a moral to the story... it's the kind of stuff you can watch with the whole family, and the kind of stuff that when i become a parent, i'm gonna want my kids to watch...
as a matter of fact, this past Spring, i led a 12-week Bible study at my church that was based on episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, and it was so popular, i'm getting ready to do it again with 12 more episodes, starting the end of this month!
you just can't beat quality like that!
when it comes to modern TV, as i've said, there's very little that i feel is worth my time... i like to watch The People's Court, my wife and i sometimes watch 'Til Death, and we enjoy watching Smallville... that's really about it, as far as what's running now... we do like reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends, Seinfeld, and Reba... beyond those, we mostly just hit the DVD collection pretty hard!

I like the great ensemble sitcoms of the 70s/80s - Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, WKRP, Barney Miller, Taxi, Cheers...the last three had a great knack for integrating new characters into the group.
There aren't many current ones I follow, but 'The Office' is another great ensemble show, and 'The Venture Bros.' is one great twisted take on the old 'Jonny Quest'.

I'm surprised I mentioned 'The Office' without even thinking about the connection! Steve Carell could have just pulled his Michael Scott unjustified self-assurance schtick into the Smart character, but he did a nice job going another way. Office co-star David Hoechner (sp?), however, played Larrabee just like Todd Packer, which threw me for a loop.
Also note: While 'Venture Bros.' is a cartoon show, it's definitely not family-friendly! Fair warning...

1. Dead Like Me - My #1 favourite tv show. 2. Dctor Who - To be more accurate, I only like 3 of the Doctors, and in this order McCoy, Troughton & C.Baker. 3. Peter Gunn - With Craig Stevens as the ice cool PI, Peter Gunn. So much classic coolness packed into little more than 20 mins an episode. 4. La Femme Nikita - Action and espionage. Forget Alias, this is far better. 5. Mike Hammer, Private Eye - The short lived tv show with Stacey Keach returning as the title role. 6. Hustle - It's not the same without Jaime Murray. But at least the legend that is Robert Vaughn is still active. And series 6 is set to hit our screens in 2010. 7. Ghost Whisperer - Bit of a guilty pleasure this one. I find Hewitt cute, and to be honest, i'll watch anything she's in. Anything. 8. Witchblade - I'm a fan of the comics, and while this may not be entirely faithful, I can overlook the differences. 9. Rebus - Well, with Ken Stott as Rebus. I wasn't keen on Hannah's take. 10. Dark Angel - Futirstic sci fi, and um.... Jessica Alba in leather. Then there's those that didn't make my top 10, but i'll still watch (in A-Z): Becker Burn Notice Fraisier Get Smart (Ever watched it?) Jekyll out THERE Red Dwarf Shock Movie Massacre Star Trek: The Next Generation The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin
