we did see Smart in drag at his funeral, though... could that have been a subtle homage to the PTS of Thunderball?

Its certainly a similar costume - as the avatar we have shows. We just needed Chief to punch his lights out...

Some of these are interesting, and a lot of them are pretty obvious, but that's one I don't think I ever would have thought of on my own! ;D

theres this great bit in "the king lives" where max is being told a really complicated way to get into the secret passage to escape (they say something like a handle in the mantle in the shape of a something or other) and it really reminds me of the "Vessel with the pessel has the pellet with the poison, the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true..." etc scene from the court jester!

i haven't seen The Court Jester, but yeah, i wouldn't be surprised if that's partially where they got the idea for that bit... btw, welcome to the forum, marindarin! hope you like it here!

I think a get smart forum is a great idea. ill write a thingo on the introductions in a little bit.... the court jester is very funny. oh i thought of another one- the dorian gray paint in 'age before duty' is a pretty obvious homage to the picture of dorian gray.

Season 1, Episode 3, School Days - The Spy School is another Bond Parody, this of SPECTRE Island training camp from From Russia With Love - the use of throwing bowler hats is also a clear homage to Oddjob from Goldfingerin the same episode, after Bond arrives at the training school, and just before they use the Oddjob-like bowler hats, they also train with a wristwatch that has a wire in it you can use to choke your victim... this, again, is a reference to From Russia With Love, wherein villains use a similar weapon...

in "One of Our Olives is Missing", when Max tells Annie he's a secret agent, she laughs and says, "Let's face it: you're no Sean O'Connery!" - an obvious homage to James Bond's Sean Connery... there is also a more subtle homage to Bond in this episode when it appears that Max and Annie will have some free time while they wait for the doctor to arrive... she obviously thinks Max is about to put the moves on her, like James Bond always would do when he had free time with women in his cases, but GS makes fun of the situation by having Max be innocent-minded and instead pull out a deck of cards to play a game to pass the time...

here's another very subtle homage... in Season 3's "When Old Friends Get Together", when Hymie returns to face Gropo, as they're walking towards one another to begin their showdown, the music is very similar to "Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darling", the theme tune from the movie "High Noon"... it's not an exact match, but i think it's an intended homage, becauseof the western setting of the ghost town in our GS episode and the idea of one weaker representative of right going up against what seems to be certain doom...

in Season 3's "The King Lives?", when Max meets Marta and they talk about how aloof the King normally is towards her, they do a parody of the lyrics from " I Remember It Well" - a song which was featured in the 1958 film Gigi ( Gigi, btw, won 10 Academy Awards!)...

in "The Impossible Mission", KAOS has a band called "Herb Talbot and the Tijuana Tin", which is an homage to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass... also, Max and 99 disguise themselves as Charlie Chaplin, and the chase scene is shot to resemble a gag from a Chaplin movie...

"Shock It To Me" is a reference to the catchphrase from "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In"...
